There can be no doubt that I have been immersed in Mormonism for most of my life, about 68 years of my 88 years! In all the thousands upon thousands of encounters over those years, I really never confronted this total lack of reality.

Mormonism teaches that trillions of planets scattered throughout the cosmos are ruled by countless gods who once were human like us.

They say, that long ago, on one of these planets, to an unidentified god and one of his goddess wives, a spirit child named Elohim was conceived. This spirit child was later born to human parents who gave him a physical body.

Through obedience to Mormon teaching, death and resurrection, he proved himself worthy and was elevated to godhood as his father before him. https://saintsalive.com/resources/the-law-of-eternal-progression/

So, the Mormon god, was born and raised on a planet like Earth, but he had human parents, and because he was faithful to the Mormon Doctrine on that planet, he was elevated to godhood and placed on a planet near the great star Kolob.

From there, the Mormon god took disorganized matter from the universe and created the earth, where his own children would be born and tested as he was tested, so they could become gods and goddesses, contingent on their obedience to the LDS doctrines that are in place here on the earth. Never mind Genesis Chapter 1, this is what Mormons believe!

  • LDS President Russell M. Nelson stated, “I testify that the earth and all life upon it are of divine origin. The Creation did not happen by chance. It did not come ex-nihilo (out of nothing)” (Nelson, “The Creation”).
  • Elder Bruce R. McConkie declared: “The Creation is an organized venture. . . . And the earth is created from matter that already exists. Truly the elements are eternal, and to create is to organize” (McConkie, “Christ and the Creation).

In what is known as the King Follett Discourse, Joseph reportedly said: “The word create came from the word baurau; it does not mean so; it means to organize; the same as a man would organize a ship. Hence we infer that God had materials to organize the world out of chaos; chaotic matter, which is element, and in which dwells all the glory” (https://www.josephsmithpapers.org/paper-summary/discourse-7-april-1844-as-reported-by-times-and-seasons/4)

Now think about this. The Mormon god can only be in one place at a time. He has a physical body. As I personally learned in the Mormon Temple ritual, years ago, he was directing it from his throne on his planet near Kolob.

NOTE: the crossed-out lines in the text are those words that were deleted from the original by the LDS Church.

ELOHIM: Jehovah, Michael, see: yonder is matter unorganized, go ye down and organize it into a world like unto the worlds that we have hereunto formed. Call your labors the First Day, and bring me word.

JEHOVAH: It shall be done Elohim. Come Michael, let us go down.

MICHAEL: We will go down, Jehovah.

JEHOVAH: Michael, see: here is matter unorganized. We will organize it into a world like unto worlds that we have heretofore formed. We will call our labors the First Day, and return and report.

MICHAEL: We will return and report our labors on the First Day, Jehovah.

JEHOVAH: Elohim, we have been down done as thou hast commanded, and have organized a world like unto the worlds that we have heretofore formed, and we have called out labors the First Day.

ELOHIM: It is well.

SECOND DAY

ELOHIM: Jehovah, Michael, go down again. Gather the waters together and cause the dry land to appear. The great waters call ye seas, and the dry land call ye earth. Form mountains and hills, great rivers and small streams, to beautify and give variety to the face of the earth. When you have done this, call your labors the Second Day, bring me word.

JEHOVAH: It shall be done, Elohim. Come Michael, let us go down.

MICHAEL: We will go down, Jehovah.

JEHOVAH: Michael, we will gather the waters together and cause the dry land to appear. The great waters we will call seas, and the dry land we will call earth. We will form mountains and hills, great rivers and small streams to beautify and give variety to the face of the earth. We will call our labors the Second Day, and return and report.

MICHAEL: We will return and report our labors on of the Second Day, Jehovah

JEHOVAH: Elohim, we have been down done as thou hast commanded, and have gathered the waters together, and have caused the dry lands to appear. The great waters we have called seas, and the dry land we have called earth. We have formed mountains and hills, great rivers, and small streams, to beautify and give variety to the face of the earth; and we have called our labors the Second Day.

ELOHIM: It is well.

THIRD DAY

ELOHIM: Jehovah, Michael, return again to the earth that you have organized. Divide the light from the darkness. Call the light “day”, and the darkness “night.” Cause the lights on the firmament to appear; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night. Cause the stars also to appear and give light to the earth, the same as with other worlds heretofore created. Call your labors the Third Day, and bring me word.

JEHOVAH: It shall be done, Elohim. Come Michael, let us return again to the earth that we have organized.

MICHAEL: We will return again, Jehovah.

JEHOVAH: Michael, we will divide the light from the darkness, and we will call the light “day,” and the darkness “night”. We will cause the lights in the firmament to appear, the greater to rule the day, and the lesser to rule the night. We will cause the stars also to appear and give light to the earth; the same as with other worlds heretofore created. We will call our labors the Third Day, and return and report.

MICHAEL: We will return and report our labors of the Third Day, Jehovah.

JEHOVAH: Elohim, we have been down done as thou hast commanded, and have divided the light from the darkness, and have called the light “day” and the darkness “night”. We have caused the lights in the firmament to appear; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night. We have caused the stars also to appear and give light to the earth, the same as with worlds heretofore created. We have called our labors the Third Day.

ELOHIM: It is well.

FOURTH DAY

ELOHIM: Jehovah, Michael, return again. and place seeds of all kinds in the earth that they may spring forth as grass, flowers, shrubbery, trees, and all manner of vegetation; each bearing seed in itself after its own kind, as on the world we have heretofore created. Call your labors the Fourth day, and bring me word.

JEHOVAH: It shall be done, Elohim. Come Michael, let us go down.

MICHAEL: We will go down, Jehovah.

JEHOVAH: Michael, we will place seeds of all kinds in the earth that they may spring forth as grass flowers, shrubbery, trees, and all manner of vegetation; each bearing seed in itself after its own kind, as on the worlds we have heretofore created. We will call our labors the Fourth Day, and return and report.

MICHAEL: We will return and report our labors of the Fourth Day, Jehovah.

JEHOVAH: Elohim, we have been down as thou hast commanded, and have placed seeds of all kinds in the earth that they may spring forth as grass, flowers, shrubbery, trees, and all manner of vegetation; each bearing seed in itself, after its own kind, as on the worlds we have heretofore created; and we have called our labors the Fourth Day.

ELOHIM: It is well.

Well, they may claim it is well with the LDS Church, but it is terribly wrong from the Biblical standpoint and by the scientific natural laws by which the universe operates.

The Biblical narration of creation begins this way:

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form, and void; and darkness [a]was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.

Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness. God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. [b]So the evening and the morning were the first day.

Then God said, “Let there be a [c]firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.” Thus God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament; and it was so. And God called the firmament Heaven. So the evening and the morning were the second day. [NKJV]

What is implicit within the scriptures is that God was and is outside of His Creation, not in it. He was never inside His creation, reorganizing wandering matter. All the heavens are within the stretch of His hand.

Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, or with the breadth of his hand marked off the heavens? Who has held the dust of the earth in a basket, or weighed the mountains on the scales and the hills in a balance? Isaiah 40:12.

“You, Lord, in the beginning laid the foundation of the earth,
And the heavens are the work of Your hands. Hebrews 1:10

He commands the sun, and it does not rise;
He seals off the stars;
He alone spreads out the heavens,
And [a]treads on the [b]waves of the sea;
He made [c]the Bear, Orion, and the Pleiades,
And the chambers of the south;  Job 9:7-9

The Mormon god, by their very own declarations, somehow, used Jesus and the Angel, Michael, to “go Down” and do this reorganizing of random matter and then they have to tell the Mormon god what they accomplished because it is obvious, he must not of known until they told him.  What a strange god.

LDS scripture and teachings have a god who reorganized matter to create the earth.  I have to wonder how he placed it as the 3rd planet in orbit around the sun, as well as throw in a moon to circle this earth. All without upsetting the specific orbits of all the other planets.  All the while being inside the universe and having the body of a man.

I think the point has been made. I’m going to step aside now and let you use the common sense that the true God gave us, to work through the impossibility of the LDS god being nothing more than an incomprehensible fable.

Another important distinction to understand in the difference between the Christian God and the Mormon god is that the LDS do NOT believe in The Holy Trinity of God. The divine conversation we shared with you illustrates this in the narrative dialogue between Elohim and Jehovah, which they believe are different entities.

IMPORTANT DISTINCTIONS TO CONSIDER

  • The Holy God of the Bible is Spirit.
  • The Mormon god is an exalted physical man.
  • The Mormon Jesus was conceived through physical sex between Elohim and Mary and do NOT believe in the Immaculate conception.

Divine copulation scene from the God Makers Movie illustrates Elohim visiting Mary, the soon to be mother of Jesus.

The Bible Says….

God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.” John 4:24

Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence? If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there! If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me. Psalm 169:7

  • The God of the Bible is the self-existent one.
  • The Mormon god is a man birthed to human parents.

The Bible Says….

I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End. Revelations 22:13

Who then is like me? Let him proclaim it.
Let him declare and lay out before me
what has happened since I established my ancient people,
and what is yet to come—
yes, let them foretell what will come.
Do not tremble, do not be afraid.
Did I not proclaim this and foretell it long ago?
You are my witnesses. Is there any God besides me?
No, there is no other Rock; I know not one.”  Isaiah 44:7-9

  • The Biblical God is omnipotent.
  • He is all-powerful.
  • The Mormon God reports to a council of gods for permission to rule our world.

The Bible Says….

For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or [e]principalities or [f]powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. 17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist. Colossians 1:16

You alone are the Lord;
You have made heaven,
The heaven of heavens, with all their host,
The earth and everything on it,
The seas and all that is in them,
And You preserve them all.
The host of heaven worships You.  Nehemiah 9:6

  • The Biblical God is omnipresent, everywhere, all the time.
  • The Mormon god lives on a planet somewhere in an outer galaxy.

The Bible Says….

Psalm 139:7-10

Remember the former things of old; for I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me, declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times things not yet done, saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, and I will accomplish all my purpose,’ Isaiah 46:9

If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there! If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me. Amos 4:13 Finally, I’d like to refer you to my article, The Character of God, [the true God] wherein you will find the true and powerful God who was, is and will forever be above all the heavens, our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be His name.  https://saintsalive.com/resources/the-character-of-god/
