Dear Friends, It is hard to believe that we have mailed many hundreds of issues of our newsletters and other material to well over a quarter of a million specific addresses. The thing that surprised me is the large number of you who have been with us for several decades, at least, if not three decades. When I call you our "faithful Friends", I really mean it. We have also had many millions of people visit our website www.saintsalive.com and they have downloaded millions of pages of information from close to 100 countries. Massive impact! Our e-Newsletter has already reached hundreds of thousands of people since we began it over 5 years ago. If you are not getting yours, just sign in right on this front page. I started this ministry in January of 1977, 34 years ago and during those 34 years, we have always been the edge of pushing past our resources and that is as true this month as it was 25 years ago. My vision, burden, calling, and my relentless zeal for this ministry and the lost have been the daily core of my life since I asked for my excommunication trial in 1976. The only thing on earth that has had precedent over it has been the Lord and my family. Today, Carol, Jason, Josh and Joscelyn work with me to keep up with the many demands. Since we began, ever expanding computer technology, the internet and all the social networking systems have increased our world-wide outreach by many thousands-fold. We post material on almost twenty social systems. In the old days, I would travel for weeks, speaking at churches every night, travelling every day and perhaps reach ten thousand people on a trip. Today, I can write an article, post it on our website and 4 or 5 other sites like Facebook, and tens of thousands of people see it in an hour. .
The animation portion of the film, The God Makers, that you can view by clicking on it above, right here on page one, has gone viral on the iternet. Last Summer, we counted over 10,000,000 views from Youtube and a half dozen other video sites. I suspect it may be double that by now. Back when I did live radio and TV and sent out audio program tapes to each station each week I was reaching thousands. Now, many of the national programs I guest on today reach hundreds of cities and millions of listeners. I will also begin doing a web-radio program as soon as I can figure out the mechanics of it. For those of you who have been with us for so long, thank you for sticking with us over these years. You have no idea how blessed we feel. And as always, I implore you to keep supporting us with your prayers and your gifts. One PayPal gift from each of you for $10 or $20 would do wonders for our finainces. Please pray about standing with us in your prayers and giving.
Your brother in Christ, Ed Decker
PS: I have dropped the price for all videos from $20.00 to just $6.00. Get a few while they last. |

In Memorial
I don’t know.. Maybe it is just because I am getting older, but I am going to too many Memorial services lately. I just don’t like it.
Dr. Wendell Smith, our wonderful pastor for the last 16 years passed away recently after battling cancer for 6 years. Thousands of people from around the world showed up about a week ago to pay their respects and it was a mighty tribute to his life and legacy. I would have really preferred that they were all there to listen to one of his marvelous sermons. He was too young and will be greatly missed.
A few days ago, I went to the Memorial service of a dear friend of mine, John Parrott. John was a long time missionary in Mexico where he lived a poor peasant life, ministering to those around him. His skill as a mechanic kept many an old appliance, car, bus or truck running. He lived a servant’s life there as he shared the Lord along with his gifts of love, humor and grace.
John never tried to be the center of anything. He was always on the outside of the center, being a servant. When his mother became ill, John returned to this area and became not only a servant to her for the rest of her life, but also served Pastor Wendell as personal assistant, there to take on any assigned task with a joy in the doing.
John always had a hug and a kind word for anyone who crossed his path and his relationship with me was one of grace and gentleness, qualities I learned to blend into my own life through his example.
John was a serious diabetic and the disease ate away at him over the recent years, yet he never complained. He told another pastor that he could easily lay down on the sofa, close his eyes and slip into heaven if it were not that his mother needed him to care for her needs.
In late December, both John and his mother were in the hospital he was there because of her heart and John was there because the diabetes was starting to shut down his organs, as it had happened with my own sister, Judy.
On December 27th, during the mid-morning, John’s mother, Jean Peterson closed her eyes and went to heaven. Two hours later, in another part of the same hospital, John sighed deeply and slipped into heaven right behind his beloved mom.
A tenor sang the song, On Eagle’s Wings as we said goodbye to both Jean and John. The words here do not capture the joy in Christ we felt as we thought of them at home with Jesus.
And he will raise you up on eagle's wings, bear you on the breath of dawn, make you to shine like the sun, and hold you in the palm of his hand.
Goodbye my dear brother. You made a difference in my life and the lives of all who knew you. Let it be said that you filled your life as a faithful servant of the Lord |

December 20, 2010
It is with the deepest sadness that I report
Pastor Wendell Smith , Founder and Pastor of the City Church, Seattle, WA. a mighty man of God who fought the good fight of faith closed his eyes on earth last night and woke up in heaven.
He was my friend, my mentor, my Pastor, my headship and the example of a Godly leader to many tens of thousands. He stands in glory with Jesus today as the angels rejoice.
Please pray for his family, staff, flock and the hundreds of Pastors and leaders he mentored with love and gentleness.
A beloved giant of the faith has stepped into eternity. Our hearts ache.
About Pastor Wendell

Dr. Wendell Smith was the Founding Pastor of The City Church in Seattle, Washington. He and his wife Gini pioneered the church in 1992 and were the Senior Pastors for eighteen years. Under their leadership, The City Church grew from a launch team of twenty-one people into a multi-ethnic church of thousands.
In 2009, Wendell’s son and daughter-in-law, Judah and Chelsea, became the Lead Pastors of The City Church. Wendell and Gini continued to be actively involved in the leadership of church; they also provided apostolic oversight to an international network of churches. Pastor Wendell was a prolific author and well-known speaker who was passionate about equipping the body of Christ.
Dr. Wendell was diagnosed with cancer in 2004. His example of faith and his extensive writings and teachings on the subject of healing have inspired believers around the world to contend in faith for healing and health. Pastor Wendell passed peacefully into Heaven on December 19, 2010, surrounded by family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Gini; his daughter and son-in-law, Benny & Wendy Perez; his son and daughter-in-law, Judah & Chelsea Smith; and six grandchildren.

Dear Friends
It is Christmas time again and we want to wish you and your families the greatest Christmas ever!
There is no doubt that the Christmas season has been renamed the Holiday Season and Christ, for whom the season was named has been all but removed from the equation, replaced by secularism and its God-less worldview. Christmas tree lots are now selling holiday trees and cities now celebrate with holiday lights and festivities. The word, Christmas, is disappearing from public view.
I was asked this morning in an email if we Christians should even participate in Christmas, since it has become so non-Christian and I shout an absolutely loud YES!
It is such a great time to witness. In stores and shops where they are forbidden to wish us a Merry Christmas and mutter a watered down, Happy Holiday, we can smile and respond with “God Bless you ! Have a wonderful Christmas and remember that Jesus is the reason for the season.” Or, at least respond with, “Merry Christmas.”
O Sing, choirs of angels, Sing in exultation, Sing all that hear in heaven God's holy word. Give to our Father glory in the Highest; O come, let us adore Him, O come, let us adore Him,
Christ the Lord.
Carol and I, along with our family, thank you for your continued, faithful commitment to the ministry of Saints Alive. This is often a tough ministry, reaching out to lost people, most of whom want to stay lost and in fact, think we are the lost ones. Because of your support and prayers, we have been able to stay in the battle for souls for 33 years this coming January. So many tens of thousands of people have found the real Jesus in those years.
At the end of each year, the last few weeks of December, I try to set time aside to pray and reflect on the ministry, its goals and direction. During this time, I pull out my box of prayer requests and go through them again, making your prayer needs my priority. Please, if you want answered prayers, send me an email or a quick note and be assured that your prayers will be lifted up to the One who answers prayers.
